No charges to be filed in Clinton wheelchair death

September 8, 2006 By admin

Officials say -no- charges will be filed after a 60-year-old woman on a motorized wheelchair was killed at a busy intersection in Clinton last month. A semi driven by Scott Schneider of Lina, Illinois, collided with the “Hoveround” scooter driven by Mildred Scott of Clinton, killing Scott. The Iowa State Patrol investigated the incident.

In the report, the investigator stated that the semi was northbound and making a proper right turn when the scooter operated by Scott on the east side of the street on the sidewalk continued into the intersection and struck the right side of the semi-trailer. The Clinton County Attorney’s Office has reviewed the case and said that no charges would be filed.
