Filming began Tuesday at the site of a new home under construction in Iowa that’ll be featured in the ABC Television show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”

Over 100 volunteers, along with the show’s staff and host Ty Pennington, were on hand to start the project for a Tama County Family who lost their home to fire back in December of 2005.

Rick Tollackson, CEO of Hubbell Homes — the central Iowa local builder chosen for the project, says Monday’s rains delayed preparations. “It rained just about all day long and we were not able to get all of our tents set up, a lot of our things ready ahead of time,” he says. “The road got so beat up that we they had to spent a number of hours getting it ready so we could run equipment.”

Tuesday’s first project was to demolish some out buildings on the property. “One of our people in our IT department, his hobby is demolition combines and so he got his group to come up here and do a demolition derby and the winner got to knock down the garage,” Tollackson says.

Despite the weather, the crew and sub-contractors will be pushing to get the project completed by this weekend. A concrete company poured the foundation Tuesday and framing of the home began as well.
