Coca-Cola collectors converge on Atlantic

September 23, 2006 By admin

The western Iowa community of Atlantic is celebrating one of its largest employers with Coca-Cola Days.

Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ann Pross says today’s activities begin with a Coca-Cola Show, Swap and Sell. It runs from nine a.m. until two p.m. at the Herring Building, located at Second and Poplar Streets in Atlantic. Beginning at nine, the Chamber will begin selling limited-edition Coca-Cola platters which they think will sell-out in about an hour. There were only 300-numbered editions produced. The platters will sell for 20-dollars each.

The Coca-Cola Museum will be open today (Saturday) only, from nine until two. Collectors of the soft drink’s memorabilia will be on-hand to display their wares and answer questions.

Pross says a raffle will be held for a special Coca-Cola vending machine. There’s a kiddie parade that begins at four p.m. along with a coloring contest with prizes awarded in four different categories. Collectable t-shirts will be available to take home, as well.

The Annual Coca-Cola Collector’s meeting begins at six p.m. (Saturday), at the Cass County Community Center, and on Sunday there’s a four-person, best ball golf tournament that begins with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
