The Iowa State Cyclones will make a prime time appearance next week. ABC will televise the Cyclones’ October seventh matchup at home with Nebraska on a regional basis. Kickoff for the game has been set for seven o’clock. Coach Dan McCarney says it’ll be great exposure for the team, but he says right now their focus is on U-N-I.

The Cyclones are 2-2 after a loss at Texas while U-N-I has not played since a September 16th victory over South Dakota State. McCarney says extra time to prepare is an advantage for the Panthers.
McCarney says already this season six one-double-a teams have beaten division one foes and it is proof the gap between the two divisions has narrowed.

McCarney says it’s recruiting and transfers that’re are making one-double-a teams betters. McCarney says being able to transfer without losing eligibility is important to players. He says they transfer for a variety of reasons from not playing enough, problems off the field, homesickness, academics. McCarney says those players can transfer and make an impact right away.

The Cyclone offense has struggled in the second half of games in recent weeks. They managed only a field goal in the second half at Iowa and were shutout after halftime at Texas. McCarney says guys aren’t loafing, or turning over the ball, they’re just doing some things like missing blocks or running the wrong way that’s leading to problems.

McCarney believes the offensive line will make progress and he says he’ll be very, very disappointed if the line doesn’t come along and get better. McCarney says the Cyclones will not be looking past UNI. He says his team needs to get a win and look good doing it. McCarney says it’s not hard to get ready for the Panthers when you see the success they have
