Search continues for missing Grinnell student

September 27, 2006 By admin

A search is underway on the ground and from the air for a missing 19-year-old Grinnell College student, a native of the Chicago area. Grinnell sophomore Paul Shuman-Moore was last seen around one-thirty Monday morning. Rescue personnel began searching for the missing student yesterday (Tuesday), covering the city of Grinnell, the college campus and rural areas.

Authorities are being helped in the search by volunteers, local pilots and the Civil Air Patrol. College officials say they are quote, “very concerned” about Shuman-Moore’s disappearance. During a news conference in Grinnell this morning, the city’s police chief said that — based on their on-going investigation — they’ve discovered the student was “despondent” but he did not elaborate further.
