Postville and Wapsie Valley meet in ranked matchup

October 6, 2006 By admin

There will be plenty on the line tonight in class A district five when second ranked Postville hosts number eight Wapsie Valley of Fairbank. The winner will have sole possession of the district lead with three games to go. Postville coach Ray Rankin does not try to down play this game, as he says it’s close to being the district championship game.

Both teams have high powered offenses that are averaging better than 40 points per game. Wapsie Valley coach Tony Foster says they try to stop the option first and then hold up the best they can. He says the Postville offense has a number of weapons led by quarterback Blaine Grinna.

The winner will take a big step toward the district title but both teams still have to play a West Central team that is 4-1 heading into tonight’s action.
