Fired Sioux County deputy won’t face charges

October 13, 2006 By admin

Authorities say they will not be filing charges against a former Sioux County deputy who was fired for sexual misconduct. Sioux County Attorney Melissa O’Rourke says she forwarded the investigation report on former Chief Deputy Randy Waterman to the Iowa Attorney General’s office.

Assistant Attorney General Laura Rowen reviewed the data from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and she also interviewed witnesses who talked with the DCI. Rowen told O’Rourke there’s no likelihood of a jury conviction in Waterman’s case.

The Sioux County Attorney says therefore it’s unlikely charges will be filed. Waterman was first put on administrative leave and then fired in early September by Sioux County Sheriff Dan Altena.
