Information released by officials in northeast Iowa shows a teenager faces some serious charges for allegedly trying to grab a police officer’s gun and taser. The report says the incident happened last week at the Bunger Middle School in Evansdale. A police officer who is stationed at the school was summoned to take a disruptive student to the office.
The student, 13-year-old Sharice Schoonover, kicked and scratched the officer during a struggle, then tried to grab his gun and taser. Both weapons are held in security holsters that make it difficult for anyone but the officer to access. Schoonover was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, assault on a peace officer, an attempt to disarm an officer.
