St. Ambrose looks to extend unbeaten streak

October 19, 2006 By admin

St. Ambrose has climbed to fifth on the latest NAIA football top 25. The Fighting Bees are 6-0 on the season heading into this week’s game at Trinity International. Coach Todd Sturdy has a number of veterans back from last year’s team that made it to the national playoffs.

Sturdy says the young players have grown up and matured and that was evident as they played three top 25 teams in a row and won the games. St. Ambrose has dominated up front and is averaging 155 yards per game on the ground and giving up just 48.

Sturdy says they’re more balanced this year after throwing the ball more last year out of necessity. He says the defense has been good enough to limit what their opponents want to do.

After three straight wins over rated foes Sturdy is concerned about how his team will approach this game. He says they’re young and on paper it’s an undefeated team going up against a .500 team, and Sturdy says it’s a challenge to get the team focused.
