Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell threw for 368 yards and six touchdowns as the Red Raiders rode roughshod over Iowa State in a 42-26 win in Ames. Iowa State coach Dan McCarney says was disappointed his team didn’t do a better job in slowing the Tech offense. McCarney says Texas Tech played a great game, but he feels bad for his team as all the preparation they put into the game didn’t show in the final outcome.

Tech pulled out to an early 14-0 lead in the first quarter, but Iowa State battled back and scored a touchdown and had a career best 52-yard field goal from Brett Culbertson to cut the score to 14-10. But the Cyclones could never get the lead in the game. Texas Tech fumbled away two punts and had 129 yards in penalties, but McCarney says his team didn’t do enought to use those miscues to their advantage.

Iowa State has failed to win a Big 12 game in four tries, but McCarney says they’ll keep trying. He says they still have half the Big 12 season to go and and he says there’s a lot of class and integrity in the program and they’re going to work even harder to try and get the first Big 12 win at Kanasas State. Iowa State falls to 3-4 on the season.
