Decorah man dies in weekend accident, driver charged

October 23, 2006 By admin

A Decorah man died this weekend in an accident involving a sport utility vehicle. Forty-nine-year-old Daniel Darling was riding in an S-U-V Saturday afternoon being driven by 48-year-old Willet Young, who is also from Decorah. Young lost control of the vehicle while attempting to climb a steep incline in a wooded area north of Decorah.

The S-U-V tipped over and rolled backward down the hill. Darling was thrown out and the vehicle rolled over him. Darling died in the accident and Young was charged with drunk driving.
