President Bush to visit Thursday

October 25, 2006 By admin

President Bush will be in Iowa Thursday to help Republican congressional candidate Jeff Lamberti raise money. Lamberti says Bush will help “energize” Republican voters in the third congressional district. President Bush’s latest job approval rating in Iowa was at about 40 percent, but Lamberti says he is unconcerned that some voters will be turned-off by Bush’s late push on Lamberti’s behalf.

“Iowa voters are very sophisticated. They understand this is a race about two individuals with different ideas, different records,” Lamberti says. “I’m confident that they’ll decide it based on that.”

Lamberti’s rival, Democratic Congressman Leonard Boswell, says it looks like Lamberti isn’t “where he wants to be” and is “pulling out all the stops” by bringing Bush to Des Moines. “This sounds a little facetious maybe but, you know, with some of the things been going on in the administration, it’s o.kay with me,” Boswell says. “Maybe he can bring (President Bush) in a couple of times.” Bush is scheduled to speak at about noon tomorrow in Des Moines.
