Waterloo police release details of unusual robbery

October 25, 2006 By admin

Waterloo police are releasing details about an unusual robbery and kidnapping that occurred in the city earlier this week. The robbery happened Monday afternoon in the parking lot of Allen Memorial Hospital. Authorities say a nurse, who had a baby in her car, was approached by a man after she pulled up to park.

According to police, the man — armed with a gun and clothing pulled over his face — told the woman to get back into her car and drive him to an A-T-M. When they arrived at the cash machine, officials say the suspect then forced the woman to use her card to withdraw 200 dollars. Then, the man had the woman drive him to a nearby street and drop him off. The suspect ran away.

Authorities say neither the woman nor baby was injured in the incident. Police are searching for the suspect.
