Newhall farmer injured in harvest accident

October 26, 2006 By admin

A rural Newhall farmer is in the hospital following a harvest related accident. The accident happened about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, one mile west of Newhall in Benton County. Seventy-six-year-old Donald Deklotz was removing corn stalks from a corn picker when his pant leg got caught in the machine and he was pulled in.

Deklotz’s son was working with him and was able to run over and turn off the machine. Deklotz was airlifted to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. There’s no word on Deklotz’s condition.
