Iowa running back Albert Young expects the Iowa offense to be more successful against Northern Illinois than it was in the first game quarterback Drew Tate missed. Tate is out after thumb surgery and also missed an overtime win at Syracruse the second week of the season. Jason Manson led the Hawks to a 20-13 victory in double overtime.

Young says they made a lot of mistakes all around against Syracruse. Young says things should be different at home and it was good for Manson to get the experience. Two quarterbacks could play, redshirt freshman Jake Christensen and Manson. Young says Mason is relaxed and knows what to do. He says Christensen is also confident and believes he can get the job done if called upon.

With Tate out Christensen expects Northern Illinois to alter its game plan on defense. Young says they will probably try to force the quarterback to do more like Syracruse did. Iowa is 5-3.
