Cedar Rapids police are investigating what appeared to a homemade bomb. Shortly after eight o’clock last night police were called out on a report of a suspicious object on top of some mailboxes in a parking lot on the southwest side of the city.
Officers found a plastic bottle containing a liquid wrapped in plastic, with a blinking red light. The bomb squad was notified and they used a robot to render the object safe.
