Out-going Governor Tom Vilsack says he has no regrets about deciding not to seek a third tern.

During an interview with Radio Iowa’s Dar Danielson earlier this evening, Vilsack — a Democrat — pointed to “heavy” voter turn-out in Democratic areas of the state as a sign Democrats up and down the ticket would do well. “The rallies were good. The bus tour was great,” Vilsack said, referring to the trip he and other leading Democrats took around the state in the closing days of the campaign. “I’m feeling very confident tonight.”

Vilsack’s own political future depends, in large part, on a Democratic victory in the Iowa governor’s race tonight. Vilsack’s White House prospects would dim if he is forced to leave Terrace Hill to Republican Jim Nussle.
