Some Iowans who have car insurance with a company based in the state will be getting refund checks soon. The checks are for clients of Des Moines-based AMCO Insurance and they should be for about 200-dollars each. AMCO and its parent company Nationwide Mutual have agreed to pay more than 19-million dollars to 67-thousand policyholders across the country.

AMCO admits no wrongdoing but agreed to the payout after being accused in an Oregon court of not properly notifying clients their car insurance rates would be going up after changes to their credit scores. It’s unclear exactly how many Iowans are due checks, but they’re supposed to be in policyholders’ mailboxes by year’s end.
