Pinkel says he’ll miss McCarney

November 15, 2006 By admin

Missouri coach Gary Pinkel says he will miss Iowa State coach Dan McCarney. Pinkel will matchup against McCarney for the final time on Saturday when the Tigers and Cyclones meet in Ames.

Pinkel says it’s a difficult part of the business as McCarney is a great coach and great person, and all that’s good about college football. But Pinkel says, “It’s a crazy business.” Pinkel says he’ll miss McCarney as a colleague and a friend as he says McCarney embraces everyone.

At 7-3 Missouri can improve its bowl prospects with a couple of wins to close out the regular season and Pinkel says he is not concerned about the possibility of his team running into a “hornet’s nest” this weekend. He says he has not control over that and all he can control is how his team plays.
