Iowa State and Iowa look for win in regular season finale

November 17, 2006 By admin

The Dan McCarney era comes to an end as the Iowa State Cyclones host Missouri in their season finale. McCarney says he would love to send 23 seniors out with a win. He says he wants to give thanks to the Iowa State fans by coming out and winning a game.

McCarney did not want to have a ceremony marking his final game. McCarney says as much as he’ll love his experience at I-S-U, and as much as he’ll hate that it’s his last game, McCarney says this is about the seniors.

The Iowa Hawkeyes look to snap a four game Big Ten losing skid when they visit Minnesota. At 6-5, the Hawks need a victory to secure a winning season. Coach Kirk Ferentz says he likes to think his team has a lot of pride and has good people who need to come into the lockerroom and feel good about what they’ve done.

The Gopher offense has caught fire as of late and Minnesota has won its last two games. Ferentz says they’ve also done some things on special teams and made some plays. Ferentz say the Gophers are just playing good football.
