Creston woman killed in accident

An accident west of Creston has killed a Creston woman. The two-vehicle accident occurred five miles west of Creston on U.S. Highway 34 yesterday (Friday) morning. Reports indicate Barbara Smith of Creston was heading west on U.S. Highway 34 when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the centerline, and struck Patricia Grashorn of Clarinda who was headed the opposite way.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. Grashorn was taken to Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Union County Sheriff’s Department.
