Tenth ranked Alabama was too strong for the Iowa Hawkeyes Sunday night. The Crimson Tide outscored the Hawks 38-22 in the paint and pulled away from a one point halftime lead in a 72-60 win in the semifinals of the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands. Iowa Coach Steve Alford says Alabama is very good, but his team is not a top ten team yet.

Alford says his team has to bounce back and play better in the next game. Iowa could not offset Alabama’s advantage inside. The Hawks shot only 37 percent for the game. Alford says when you’re not making shots, your defense has to be there, and he says they didn’t guard very well in the game.

Iowa is now 2-1 and plays in the third place game later today.
