Three failed burglary tries net man five years in prison

November 21, 2006 By admin

Three tries by a burglar in northwest Iowa netted him one can of pop and a five-year prison term. The Sioux County attorney says 27-year-old Wayne Koele was sentenced to two concurrent five-year terms by Judge James Scott. On July 12th, authorities say Koele hid at the Farmer’s Cooperative in Boyden, waiting for the late shift staff to leave. He looked in the office for money but found none. He took a can of Mountain Dew, then left.

Koele then found an unlocked parked car on the street. There was a purse inside but again, no money. His third attempt was at Sparboe Foods, where he kicked in an office door, looked around and again found no cash and left. He asked for a suspended sentence but Judge Scott says Koele had been down that road before without changing his behavior.
