The Iowa-Iowa State series continues Sunday in Iowa City with a much anticipated wrestling dual between the Hawkeyes and Cyclones. Both teams are 2-0 in duals and it marks the first meeting between first year coaches Tom Brands from Iowa and Cael Sanderson at Iowa State.

Sanderson says the wrestlers know it’s a big match and he says all the kids know each other. Sanderson says on a match-to-match basis, they have a chance in each match, and he says that’s a good feel. Sanderson says with six freshmen, it’s a young team, but he says Iowa is a young team too.

Sanderson says this is not about the two coaches, it’s about two of the best programs in the country and he says there doesn’t need to be any more gasoline on the fire. Sanderson says he wants his team to show there isn’t a dominant team in the state anymore, and if there is, it’s I-S-U.

Sanderson says it is a big match but the Cyclones have bigger goals in mind. He says they ultimately need to win a national championship, as it has been 20 years since their last title
