Iowa set to take on Panthers

December 4, 2006 By admin

After winning its own tournament over the weekend the Iowa basketball team now gets set for the in-state series. Beginning with tomorrow night’s game at home against U-N-I the Hawkeyes will play three straight against in-state foes.

Iowa coach Steve Alford says it’s a fun time for fans and players and the players are around each other all the time in the summer leagues.

Alford says his young Hawkeye squad needs to play with emotion no matter who the opponent is. Alford says he hopes his team plays at a high level of intensity, no matter who they play. Alford says you set yourself up for failure if you just get up to play certain opponents. Iowa is 4-4 on the season.
