Drake hosts own tournament

December 8, 2006 By admin

When you host your own tournament you normally bring in three teams you can beat. That’s not the case for the Drake Bulldogs who open their own tournament this evening against a Troy team that has already beaten them this season. The other half of the bracket has Northern Illinois playing Georgia Southern.

Bulldog coach Tom Davis says there’s a lot of scheduling changes that take place and a lot of teams will pick tournaments that they can win.

Drake lost to Troy in the third place game at a tournament in Alaska and Davis says it was no fluke. Davis says Troy is know for shooting threes and they have a lot of talent. In the first matchup the Bulldogs led the entire way before Troy rallied late. Davis says it is important for his team to avoid a three point shooting battle. Drake is 3-2 after a victory at Iowa State.
