Taco John’s executives say one of their restaurants in another state may have been the source of an E-coli outbreak at the same time a Taco John’s in Cedar Falls apparently served contaminated food to its patrons.

Taco John’s executives say the Minnesota Department of Health is investigating the illness of several patrons of the chain’s Albert Lea, Minnesota, franchise. That outbreak occurred during the same period as the one in Cedar Falls. The company’s president says they don’t know if the situation in Minnesota is the same as the one in Iowa.

The Taco John’s executive wished all who had fallen ill a “speedy recovery” and said the chain was “cooperating fully with health departments in both states” while also conducting its own investigation. Taco John’s is a Wyoming-based chain with more than four-hundred outlets in 27 states.
