State trooper injured in accident with train

December 19, 2006 By admin

An Iowa State trooper was seriously injured in a car/train accident in northwest Iowa last (Monday) night. The Iowa State Patrol says 38-year-old David Driesen from Orange City was going north on a road four miles west of Spencer. The train was traveling east when they collided.

There are no mechanical warning signs at that railroad crossing. Driesen, who suffered a number of fractures, was taken to a Spencer hospital, then airlifted to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He’s listed in stable condition. The collision happened at about nine o’clock last night.
