Greenfield soldier’s funeral is today

December 20, 2006 By admin

The funeral’s today (Wednesday) for a southwest Iowa soldier who died in Iraq this month. Greenfield State Representative Clel Baudler says the community, the state, and the nation should honor the service of warriors like Lance Corporal C.J. Miller.

Baudler says it’s remarkable for a young man to willingly leave his hometown and go so far away, only to lose his life, and we should respect him. Baudler says some unwanted visitors have announced plans to be present at the services tomorrow.

“I know the Patriot Riders are going to be out here,” Baudler says, noting the state legislature last year passed a law requiring protesters to stay at least 500-feet away from any funeral service. “I don’t think they’ll be a problem up here.” Miller?s funeral is set for ten this morning at the Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield.
