Iowa Games winter festival set for February

December 26, 2006 By admin

Iowa Games executive director Jim Hallihan says the winter sports festival has become a stable event. The city of Dubuque will host the winter games in February, the 13th straight year for an event that at one point was dropped after a couple of years.

Hallihan says it was questionable when the winter games were brought back. He says they had 14 to 15-hundred athletes, but they added sports.

Hallihan says event has grown to about three thousand athletes each year. He says that’s a significant number for an event held during the school year that uses school facilities.

Most of the events will be in Dubuque February second through the fourth though there are some events in other locations.
