Southern Iowa woman dies in accident

December 27, 2006 By admin

A southern Iowa woman was killed in a crash Tuesday. The Iowa State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle accident in which a Mount Ayr woman died near Mount Ayr early Tuesday afternoon.

Ronny Swanson of Mount Ayr was driving a pickup going north on county road P-46 and was pulling a farm implement. Sheila Gordon of Mount Ayr was driving a car southbound when the vehicles met near the crest of a hill. The two vehicles sideswiped each other in the middle of the roadway with the Gordon vehicle spinning around and going backwards into the west ditch.

Gordon was taken to the Ringgold County Hospital where she died of her injuries. The Swanson vehicle and the accompanying farm implement ended in the east ditch. The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
