January 10, 2007 By admin

UNI’s win streak to begin Missouri Valley play ended last night at Illinois State as the Panthers fell in overtime 67-64. Brooks McKowen sent the game to overtime with a dramatic three pointer that beat the buzzer but the Redbirds won their first Valley game after an 0-4 start.

Eric Coleman led UNI with 12 points. he added seven rebounds and five assists. Coleman on the postgame show of the Panther Network says they didn’t play with as much energy as they have been playing with, and didn’t take care of the ball.

UNI falls to 4-1 in the Missouri Valley and 13-3 overall.

Drake is now 0-5 in the Valley after a 79-56 loss at Creighton. As was the case in Saturday’s loss to Bradley the Bulldogs collapsed on the defensive end as the Blue Jays scored 47 points after halftime after leading 32-31 at the break. Drake’s overall record drops to 9-7.
