Spencer woman arrested on theft charges

January 12, 2007 By admin

Clay County authorities have arrested a Spencer woman on theft charges. Sheriff’s officers say 52-year-old Linda Zech was taken into custody Thursday. She’s charged with first degree theft and ongoing criminal conduct. Both are felonies. Zech is accused of taking funds and assets in excess of ten-thousand dollars from the Eaton Employee Credit Union.

Authorities allege the thefts happened on multiple occasions over the last three years. The amount of money missing isn’t known. The credit union is not owned or operated by Eaton Corporation. Credit union officials say they’ve reported the matter to the FBI. The losses are covered by insurance as required by federal law. People with money in the credit union are not expected to have any loss. Zech was booked and released. She’ll appear before a judge at a later date.
