Harkin opposes troop surge

January 18, 2007 By admin

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin says he’ll join with other Democrats and oppose President George Bush’s plans for a troop surge in Iraq. Harkin says he doesn’t think they should pay for any new troops coming in and they’ll try to stop it. "I will vote on the toughest resolution we can to stop this surge, I think it’s absolutely wrong," Harkin says.

Harkin says the whole Iraq situation is a mess. Harkin says, "This has been a mistake and a lie from the beginning and you just can’t, you can’t make a lie into a truth unless you recognize what it is and go back and start over again." the President has proposed adding some 21-thousand troops to those already in Iraq.
