Iowa women give better effort, but lose again

January 22, 2007 By admin

It was a better effort for the Iowa women against Michigan State on Sunday but the same outcome. A week after getting hammered by the Spartans at home the Hawks put up a better fight in a 67-57 loss in East Lansing.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says its ironic that they played better on the road than they did at home. She says they started the second half in a tough manner, but had too many turnovers.

The Hawkeyes will host Minnesota on Thursday. The Hawks already downed the Gophers on the road and will be looking for their first home win in the Big Ten. Bluder say the Gophers will come in with revenge on their mine. She says they haven’t played well at home and have three days to figure out how to get that done against Minnesota.

Iowa is 3-4 in the Big Ten and 11-9 overall.
