UNI shot at the buzzer too late

January 24, 2007 By admin

It was a heartbreaking loss for UNI last night at Southern Illinois. Grant Stout’s rebound basket at the buzzer was waved off as the Panthers fell to the Salukis 56-54.

Stout’s basket came just seconds after Travis Brown missed a three pointer that could have won the game. But officials reviewed the television replay and ruled that Stout did not get the shot off before the buzzer. Brooks McCowen led the Panthers with 17 points, Brown had 12 and Stout 11.

UNI falls to 6-3 in the conference, now a half game behind the Salukis.
