Five dead in shooting near Council Bluffs

January 29, 2007 By admin

Five people are dead in what police are calling a murder-suicide just across the Missouri river from Council Bluffs. A relative tells Omaha police that a couple who’d moved in with the wife’s father weren’t getting along with him too well, and recently spent a few nights in a motel.

They were all at the home of 62-year-old Richard Wilkinson Saturday night when police say he shot his daughter and her husband, and the couple’s three- and 6-year-old sons, then turned the gun on himself. The woman, Jamie Lee, lived long enough to tell officers about the shootings but died at a hospital later Sunday morning.
