Body found in food truck

January 30, 2007 By admin

Workers in Chariton were shocked this morning after they began unloading a cargo of food and found a human body in the semi truck. Jim Saunders, a spokesman for the Iowa Department of Public Safety, says Lucas County deputies were dispatched to the Hy-Vee warehouse after employees found the body in the back of a semi trailer they were unloading.

The sheriff’s office in turn called in the Division of Criminal Investigation. The sheriff’s office and D-C-I are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of the unidentified white female, and working with the state medical examiner’s office to determine why and how she died.

An autopsy is being scheduled, though so far the little that’s known about the mysterious body seems to indicate there’s no sign of how she died, or whether it may have been foul play or not. The truck did not belong to the Hy-Vee grocery chain, but was delivering Dole brand lettuce from Arizona to the store’s warehouse in Chariton.
