The suspect in two weekend car thefts and a fatal crash has died. Authorities say Dain Mawdsley of Independence was involved in two accidents on Sunday morning has died from his injuries in one of the crashes.

Mawdsley was allegedly driving a van that had been stolen in Cedar Falls that crossed the center line in Tama County and hit a Jeep head-on, killing a passenger in the Jeep, Donna Beyer of Hudson. Her husband, Keith, was injured.
