Cold weather creates more calls to Triple-A

February 8, 2007 By admin

Due to the enduring bitter cold weather and more spitting snow, Triple-A’s call center in Omaha-Council Bluffs is on overtime this week. Motor club spokeswoman Rose White says they’re working as hard as possible to keep up with the flurry of calls from people needing roadside assistance.

White says the call center is working to serve callers all across the upper Midwest, including: Michigan, North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. White says they got more calls than ever before one day earlier this week.

On Monday, they handled a record number of 29-thousand calls which is three times the number of calls on a normal winter day. White says Triple-A has as many people on the phones taking calls as possible.

She says most employees are on overtime, as are the tow truck drivers. With the high volume of calls, some motorists are having to wait several hours for assistance. She says priority is being given to stranded motorists.
