Teen driver doesn’t learn lesson after traffic stop

February 9, 2007 By admin

One traffic ticket just wasn’t enough for a teen from Sioux Rapids. Clay County sheriff’s deputies say they stopped a car about 1:15 this morning and cited the teenage operator for driving after 12:30, because his license carried a curfew. The adult passenger was allowed to drive after the stop.

Half an hour later, the same deputy spotted the same car, and clocked it doing 108 miles an hour in a 65-mile-an-hour zone, north of Spencer. Authorities say the car was being driven by the same 17-year-old cited earlier. This time the driver was arrested, brought to the Clay County jail, and released to a legal guardian.
