DCI investigates death of Black Hawk County prisoner

The state is reviewing a death at a northeast Iowa jail. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is looking into the death of an inmate at the Black Hawk County jail. At about 1:30 p.m. Sunday, EMT’s were called to the Black Hawk County jail in Waterloo on the report of an unresponsive inmate.

Thirty-nine-year-old Michael Sutton of Waterloo was found dead. Sutton’s body was taken to the Iowa Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of death.
