Sweet devotion: Iowa’s Trappist caramels support abbey

 Once upon a time, the monasteries and abbeys where Catholic monks and nuns live in communities of faith earned their keep by farming. When that changed, they found other ways to pay the bills and keep their hands from being idle. Most in the Benedictine order spend their days in silence, but we found one nun to tell how they make sweet work of it. Listen all the way to the end to find out how the men’s Trappist community, the nearby New Melleray Abbey, found another unique product to market.
