Drake wins to go above .500

February 15, 2007 By admin

Klayton Korver made only one basket against Wichita State but it was the biggest one of the night. The Drake junior converted a four point play with a minute-15 to go as the Bulldogs edged Wichita State 62-58 in the Knapp Center. After several closes losses at home the Bulldogs found a way to win at the end.

Drake coach Tom Davis on his postgame show on KRNT says the close games are a matter of doing things the right way under pressure. He says they did that by making their free throws, playing good defense and making some good passes.

The Bulldogs improve to 14-13 and are two wins away from locking up their first winning season since 1987. Davis says he just wants the team to get as much recognition and as much out of the season that they can.

Drake hosts Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday in the Bracket Busters.
