The Iowa Hawkeyes jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the outset and never trailed the entire game as they rolled past Purdue 78-59 in Iowa City.

Iowa coach Steve Alford says he thought the game was won the last two days in practice. Alford says the "gold team" did a good job of showing the type of things the team would face. The Hawkeyes did a good job of bouncing back from a lopsided loss at Michigan State. Alford says Adam Haluska and Mike Henderson, the two seniors, deserve credit for getting the team back on track.

Alford says the team still has a chance to finish in third place after the final two games and they’ve done a good job of staying focused. Iowa is 8-6 in the Big Ten and 16-12 overall. The Hawks are off until next Wednesday night when they visit Penn State.
