Navy recruiter pleads guilty to child porn charge

February 27, 2007 By admin

An Navy recruiter from Cedar Falls has pleaded guilty to a federal child pornography charge. Thirty-one-year-old Brian Hoover made the plea Monday in federal court in Cedar Rapids to a charge of attempted receipt of child pornography.

Hoover admitted that in October of last year he used the internet to order two films of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. The films Hoover ordered were described as being filmed in underground brothels in eastern Europe and Central America. Hoover had mailed his payment to a Maine post office box, and requested the films be mailed to the Navy recruiting station where he worked in Waterloo.

Hoover was arrested in November after receiving the package. Hoover now faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to 250-thousand dollars.
