Iowa women open conference tourney play

March 1, 2007 By admin

The Iowa Hawkeye women open the Big Ten Tournament today in Indianapolis against Indiana. The teams met just once during the regular season and the Hawkeyes beat the Hoosiers in Bloomington early in the conference race.

Iowa coach Lisa Bluder says it’s been a long time since they’ve played and both teams have probably changes a lot since then. It has been a disappointing season for the Hawkeyes who are 14-15 overall and finished the Big Ten race 6-10. After playing the past couple of weeks to improve their seeding the Hawks can focus on a new challenge.

Bluder says now they have an opportunity to play for something and that adds to the excitement. She says they can win four games in four days and make it to the NCAA Tournament.
