Some Iowa soldiers have been told they’re going on active duty. This call is not to the war zone in Iraq and Afghanistan. About 330 soldiers from northeast Iowa will be sent on a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo.

Around 100 are in Alpha Company of the First Battalion, 133rd Infantry, based in Dubuque. About twice that many are in the First Battalion 194th Field Artillery, with units based in Storm Lake, Spencer, Algona, Fort Dodge and Estherville. So far they don’t know exactly where their duty location will be, and have not received a date for their mobilization.
