ISU, Drake women get tourney wins

The Iowa State women hit ten 3-pointers as they downed Texas A&M 57-51 Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship. The win was ISU’s eighth straight and sends them to the title game of the Big 12 Tournament Saturday night.

Heather Ezell and Alison Lacey paced ISU with 11 points each, as the Cyclones advance to their fourth Big 12 Tournament title game and first since 2001. , Iowa State is now 25-7 and will play the winner of the Oklahoma-Baylor game.

 

Drake is hosting the Missouri Valley Tournament and opened last night with a 78-63 win over Wichita State. Junior Lindsay Wharton led the Bulldogs with 26 points. Drake has been hard hit by injuries this season and did not have leading scorer Brandy Dahir, who was out with illness.

The Bulldogs are now 11-18 and played top seed Southern Illinois in the semifinals.
