Communications giant A-T-and-T is looking to fill about 500 new positions at its customer care center, now under construction in Davenport. Ground was broken on the 19-million dollar facility on Wednesday. A-T-and-T spokesman Dan Kramer says the jobs will pay various salaries. He says customer care reps start at $9.59 an hour with college reimbursement, and full medical, dental and vision benefits.

Kramer says the center is expected to open later this year with an annual payroll of nearly 11-million dollars. He says the jobs involve talking to customers so they’ll need to be friendly and college degrees won’t be required. They’ll also be looking for I-T people, as well as management and human resources.
